How You can Help

May 2020. The Pet Charity

Role Description – Fundraiser

Who are we?

The Pet Charity is a national charity which promotes the joy and health benefits of pet ownership. Pets benefit our lives in so many different ways, and The Pet Charity has at its heart the need to spread the word about the positive aspects of pet ownership. The Pet Charity seeks to run programmes that demonstrate the benefits of pet ownership alongside increasing awareness of the differing needs of pets.

The Pet Charity Board of Trustees are looking for an experienced Fundraiser to join our team as a Trustee. This is an unpaid position but an opportunity to use your skills and experience to help us fund projects which benefit pets and pet owners across the country. We are a small Charity with a compact Board of Trustees with experience in the Pet and Veterinary Industries and Communities, but we lack Fundraising and PR experience.

Our first major project has been the establishment of a first class Rescue and Rehoming facility for Reptiles and Amphibians. The National Centre for Reptile Welfare is situated in the Grounds of Hadlow College and is the best of its kind in Europe, if not the world. The Centre is already making a real difference through effective rehoming. We also provide Education on Reptile welfare for Hadlow College Students and Pet Store Staff, as well as Local Authority Inspector training.

Since opening we have found new homes for over 1000 animals, but due to the crisis the centre is on lockdown and needs funding to keep the great work going.

A key part of the role will be to help us increase our fund raising revenues to make the NCRW self-funding, to enable the Trustees to pass the centre over to long term Management and allow us to continue work on other important projects, such as The Pet Portal.

The ideal candidate would have experience as a Fund Raiser but also be able to help us with our outgoing communications. To tell the story of the great work done at the Centre, supported by the  Nationwide community of Clubs and Reptile Keepers that help us care for and rehome Reptiles and Amphibians in need. We are developing our “Case for Support” for the NCRW, so now would be the perfect time to join us.
